About Me

I like, use and write open source software. I can program in XHTML and CSS fluently, in PHP and Python well and in Perl, C/C++, Ruby (on Rails) and shell scripting okay. Currently I am focusing on learning Perl. I once thought I was above the text editor wars. I was wrong, and like any _sane_ person, I prefer vi to emacs.

My computer system is a old P4 1.6ghz with 512mb of RAM, a 60g harddisk, and a GeForce 4 MX440 video card. It's not bad, considering it's about five years old. I installed Ubuntu, and it runs like a dream, much better than the spyware infested WinXP we had on it before. Despite it's age, it can still run Beyrl and FlightGear well.

I like Games Workshop's Specialist Games division, especially Inquisitor and Battlefleet Gothic. Unfortunatly, living in Australia geting models is tough, so I proxy a _lot_. I am planing on writing an isometric based games on them, check out the code page for more details.

As far as free operating systems go, my favourites are *buntu Linux, FreeBSD/PC-BSD and CentOS. If I am forced to use non-free OSes, I can live with Mac OS X (which should be said O-S-X __not__ O-S-TEN). I would like to run a dual boot mac mini and are currently slaving away in the orginal McJob to save up for it and a lovely 19" widescreen LCD monitor. I also would like to get a oldish Pentium to run a FreeBSD server. I currently run Ubuntu, as mentioned above.

My favourite snack is a bag of Menz's FruChocs or a nice big plate of Cheds, with a large Farmer's Union Iced Coffee to finish.

I am an atheist. My motto is:

HUMANITATE MAGIS QUAM RELIGIONE NOBIS OPUS EST
"We need humanity more than religion"
